The milestones follow chapters 19 to 21 of Max Bennett’s A Brief History of Intelligence (2023), checked against the research below. The East Africa maps are a reconstruction: today’s terrain and rainfall with the Rift’s growth, volcanoes, lakes and the global climate record taken back in time. They show the direction of change, not exact forests. The globe uses today’s coastlines; in the ice age the sea was up to 120 m lower.
